NOVA & Dino Wrists.

So I just watched some of my old VHS recordings of PBS's NOVA program from the early nineties - one on Mongolian dinosaurs with Phil Curry and Dale Russel, one on Kathy Wankel's Tyrannosaurus discovery BEFORE it was named "Sue" with Bob Bakker and Jack Horner, and one on the relationship between birds and dinosaurs with more paleontologists than I can name...or remember (except for the late John Ostrom - a HUGE personal hero of mine). Ants in a Paleontologists pants

The other day I went out to a pasture about as far away from my house that I can go on my own property to pick up an ATV left behind for some fencing activity the day before. I hitched a ride to the site with Ray Williams and picked up the ATV around 8AM. I figured while I was out there, I would check out a hill with just a little sandstone outcropping near the top that I had never been on before. I knew it was in the right part of the geologic column for there t… Continue

Upper Cretaceous Dinosaurs are actually pretty uncommon in the world with the Hell Creek Formation and related rocks being famous for their dinosaurian content. The most common and a very well known animal being the browsing Triceratops.

Triceratops was a giant of a fellow. Much like the animal shown in Jurassic Park (the movie). They were the cows of their time being herbivores in contrast to their carnivorous… Continue
